As we make our way back to Chiang Mai and prepare for the return home, I’ve asked the students to share some reflections from their time in Thailand. Here’s the first from Calie Gordon:
The time we had with the kids on this trip was one of my favorite things. You could see the joy on their faces as these Americans, who didn’t speak their language, would take the time to play with them. We were there to serve them. They in turn blessed us. How, you might ask? With laughter, hugs, smiles, high fives, and food. So much food. Never once going to someone’s house did they not have food ready for us, which was cool to see because they gave us their very best. It is very humbling, as you are eating their food and they will wait till all have eaten before they eat.
One of my takeaways from this trip would be how God is everywhere. Listening to Thai kids sing “Here I Am to Worship” in Thai and our team singing it in English and seeing how universal it is but in different languages. There is nothing like 200 Thai kids praying for you in their own language and being able to hear how passionately they were praying for us. 200 voices, with their hands raised, and prayers going up on our behalf. You can’t help but be humbled.
