What is GCM?

Great Commandments Ministries is one answer to the question, “What does God want with our lives?”

Jesus was once asked, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And Jesus answered, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:36-40).

GCM exists to do just that—love God and love others.

GCM has three main branches: Antioch Christian Training School (ACTS), our 4 to 8-month discipleship sabbatical for young adults; Sojourn, a midweek ministry for college-age students living in the Yakima, WA area; and International Ministries, in the form of two church plants and short term outreaches throughout the year.

DISCIPLESHIP  is at the core of who we are, and we at GCM have been commissioned to make disciples among this generation of young adults.

Discipleship can be defined in many ways but Jesus makes a radical, hard hitting statement in Matthew 10 verses 38-39 that gets straight to the heart of the matter, “And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.  Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”  To follow Jesus means to worship him exclusively. This is at the heart of Jesus’s ministry on earth. As he told the woman at the well, the Father is seeking true worshipers, not faux worshipers, but true worshipers, those who worship him in spirit and truth.  Do you desire to be counted among those “true worshippers” that Christ is seeking?

We are calling out to young adults who are dissatisfied with the status quo, and are ready to seriously explore what it means to worship Jesus single-mindedly and wholeheartedly.  We are calling out to young adults who are stirred to know Him intimately and hungry to know His Word, will and ways.  We are seeking young adults who are overcome with superficiality, technology, idolatry and desiring Christ centered intervention.  We are looking for those who are chained to sin and desperately wanting to break free.
